Navigating the EHCP process and SEN regulations is becoming more and more challenging.
This is aimed for SENCos in independent schools - in particular those who are not section 41 and not necessarily specialist schools. The course will cover applying for EHCPs, the importance of a good application with robust evidence, laws and regulations around funding (including VAT on fees), the Annual Review process and general good practice in SEN.
Lucy was Head of SEN at Moon Hall School and now leads Moon Hall Assessment Centre. An innovative social enterprise providing gold standard assessments for all children, including means tested assessments. Lucy has been in teaching for over 20 years and in SEN for over 10; holding a variety of SEN positions in state, private and specialist settings. She holds the National Award for SENCos and has a Masters in Special Educational Needs and Inclusion. Lucy is passionate about reducing barriers to learning for all neurodiverse children and has a very thorough knowledge of the EHCP application and Annual Review process.
Dr Chris Wood is an independent Educational Psychologist. Chris was the lead EP for Wolverhampton Council before entering in private practice. He specialises in learning difficulties, autism spectrum conditions and educational needs tribunals and disputes. Chris is motivated by a strong desire to ensure children get what they need - whether this is through comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, advocacy and, when needed, representation at tribunal hearings.
