Stars of the Stage - Recap of the 91ÆÞÓÑ Drama Competition 2023

The 91ÆÞÓÑ Drama Competition 2023 took place across two events, where we saw a total of twenty-one fantastic plays performed by pupils from key stages one to five.

The first day of the competition was at Luckley House School's Whitty Theatre on 14 March. We were treated to a range of stories from Alice in Wonderland to Shakespeare. The Mead School's junior group impressed with their devised piece Somewhere Out There. ArtsEd Day School and Sixth Form also showcased a devised piece, The Crossing, which addressed the refugee crisis. In the senior category, LVS Ascot's performance of Chaos by Laura Lomas saw them receive an award.

King's High School, Warwick hosted the second day of the competition at the Bridge House Theatre on 26 April. The audience was entertained by performances including fairytale mash-ups and moving original plays. Awards were given to Salterford House School for their musical version of The Tempest, and to Alderley Edge School for Girls for a spooky production of The Crucible. The day ended strongly, with Lichfield Cathedral School's senior group performing DNA.

Judges Hilary Thomson and David Farmer expressed how impressed they were with all the plays shown. Special awards were given to schools, including commendations for impressive costumes and props, creation of devised plays, and best musical and comedy performances.

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the 91ÆÞÓÑ Drama Competition, and well done to those who recieved an award:
