Bridgewater School surpass expectations with top GCSE results
Pupils from in Worsley, Greater Manchester have earned an outstanding pass rate with today’s GCSE results, with almost two-thirds of results at grade 6 and above.
Students impressed across the board with a 100% pass rate recorded in over half of all subjects taught, including Drama, Arts and Music, French and Spanish.
39% of all grades have been achieved at the top levels of 9-7, seeing students exceed all targets.
Mrs Carroll was just one of the parents who celebrated a full suite of top grades (9-7) for their child at Bridgewater today and today is a highlight in a journey that started at the age of 3:
“We have been part of the Bridgewater family since our girls were 3 years old and we are so grateful for all that they have helped our daughter achieve.
“Under their care and tutelage, she has shone and we are incredibly proud of her success.”
Mr Barker, the school’s Deputy Head (Academic), is immensely proud of the ‘determination, commitment and dedication’ that students and staff have shown in a period that’s seen much disruption for young people in schools:
“This year group have faced disruptions to their education from the very start of their GCSE course. As a result, many of these young people have struggled with self-doubt and the confidence to stand independently and have worked extremely hard to overcome these challenges.
“Therefore, to have performed at this level is testament both to their determination, the commitment and dedication of our teaching staff and the mutual support of our parent body. Three-quarters of students achieved at least one GCSE at grade 7 or above and collectively they have significantly exceeded all expectations in the top grades.”
These fantastic GCSE results follow outstanding achievements for A Level students at Bridgewater, who once again celebrated a 100% pass rate this year in a cohort that earned almost a quarter of all grades at A* and A.
Bridgewater School opened in 1950, initially to boys and became co-educational in 1968. The Worsley school’s Drywood Hall home sees it set in four acres of picturesque woodland surrounded by modern facilities including an adventure playground, drama studio and sports centre.
Offering high staff-to-pupil ratios, Bridgewater values its capacity to provide continuity of individual attention from Early Years through to Sixth Form.
Sixth Form and whole school open events are taking place in the autumn term for anyone who wishes to learn more about the benefits of a Bridgewater School education.
