A level celebrations at Cardiff Academy

Students are celebrating a superb set of AS and A2 level results at Cardiff Academy. At the end of a disrupted and challenging year, the city centre sixth form college has seen their students achieve 98.78% A* - A grade at A level. Five students gained 4 A* grades at A level with students now looking forward to taking up their places at Oxbridge and top Russell Group universities such as Cambridge, Imperial College, Queen Mary London and Exeter amongst others. 35% of these students will progress to study Medicine at these top Universities. Top achievers with 4A*s were, Naz I in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Sociology, Faith E and Amy L in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Psychology, Kloe O in Biology, Chemistry, Physics & Mathematics and finally Callum R in Biology, Chemistry, Physics & Further Mathematics. Principal Caroline Williams puts this success down to the hard work of both students and staff. She says: “I cannot praise too highly the resilience and focus of our students this year. They have taken the challenges of lockdowns head-on and worked incredibly hard to achieve these fantastic results.” She is quick to credit the commitment of staff too: “Our highly experienced teaching staff delivered live online lessons throughout the year, ensuring that all content was taught, giving students the best possible opportunities to succeed. Staff have ensured robust monitoring of student performances throughout the 2 years ensuring the grades achieved are a true reflection of the students’ abilities and achievements. This cohort of students would achieve these results whether under examination or teacher assessed conditions."
